PREVIEW | Yeovil Town v Lincoln City

Town looking to continue their impressive home form

8 December 2017

Town impressed against higher league opposition in midweek, leaving Darren Way with a healthy selection headache going into this weekend’s match at Huish Park.

Defender Keston Davies slotted into the back four and netted his first professional goal, while Jake Gray came off the bench to score his first for the club.

New recruit Oscar Gobern stamped his authority on the game in the heart of the midfield next to a busy Connor Smith, and Tom James produced another eye-catching display at left-back.

With the likes of Jordan Green, Alefe Santos et al. performing well of late, it’s a nice problem for Way to have.

Sid Nelson (suspension) and Rhys Browne (ankle) are the only confirmed absentees, leaving the Glovers in a good place to extend their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions.

Out to wipe that sequence are Lincoln who sit 10th in the table, two points outside the play-off positions.

The Imps stormed to the National League title last term, and also reached the Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals, defeating Championship outfit Brighton & Hove Albion and Premier League side Burnley along the way.

Danny Cowley’s team have carried that form into the EFL signing experienced players in Matt Green, Michael Bostwick and Neil Eardley to their already talent squad.

Green has three goals to his name so far, two behind top scorer wideman Harry Anderson.

Head-to-head
Town haven’t played Lincoln since 2005 – and a memorable occasion it was.

The Glovers ran out 3-0 winners at Huish Park, courtesy of goals from Efe Sodje (2) and Phil Jevons, to clinch the League Two title.

Yeovil have won three out of their four meetings with the Imps in the EFL, with Saturday’s visitors recording a single victory.

Officials
Lee Collins (Surrey) will be the man in the middle on Saturday.

He has only officiated six games this season, four of which have been in League Two.

His last two Yeovil matches were in the 2015/16 campaign and both ended goalless.

Mr Collins will be assisted by Christopher Wade (Hampshire) and Kevin Howick (Oxfordshire) with Simon Shaw (Gloucestershire) acting as fourth official.
