Omar Sowunmi celebrates his goal at Cheltenham Town PPAUK

Omar Sowunmi was delighted to net his first goal of the season in Town’s win at Cheltenham Town – and what a goal it was!

On 69 minutes, the centre-back went up for a long throw looking to use his height to his advantage but turned into Lionel Messi, taking a touch out of his feet before smashing into the top corner to give the Glovers a deserved lead.

Jordan Green added a second late on to ensure Darren Way’s men gave the 345 fans in the away end a happy trip home.

Sowunmi told iFollow Glovers: “I’m very happy to score, I’ve been waiting for one for a while. It wasn’t what I expected but I’m very happy!

“It was definitely instinct; I touched it with my right and just hit it with my left and it’s gone in the top corner.

“It was exactly what we needed. At the moment we’re very solid and we just need to score goals.

“Everyone is working hard for each other, there’s no individuals anymore and that’s one of the main reasons it’s all coming together.

“(Three points) is great for me and all the boys especially this time of year. It’s exactly what we need, it’s exactly what the gaffer has been going on about and it’s about pushing forward now.”
