Darren Way was pleased with his side’s defensive display In the 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux in the Carabao Cup first round.
Forward Nouha Dicko, who boasts a wealth of experience in the second tier, netted the match-winner in the 76th minute after Town had restricted the Sky Bet Championship outfit to just a few clearcut opportunities.
The Glovers had a glorious chance to go ahead when Bournemouth loanee Sam Surridge missed with an effort inside the area, but overall Way was happy with the character his side shown after the opening day defeat at Luton Town.
“I was really pleased with the game,” he told Glovers iFollow.
“With the amount of goals we conceded on Saturday, the first we had to do was make sure we looked very good defensively.
“I think we limited them to long range shots and I feel very proud of the players.
“I thought they showed spirit, desire and what it takes to play in a Yeovil shirt.”
He continued: “We had Tom James and Omar Sowunmi come in and I thought they were excellent with the way they handled a really good Wolves team.
“We hit them on the counter-attack in the first-half and had one or two shots, and in the second half Surridge had a great chance to put us 1-0 up.
“The goal we conceded was disappointing but overall on the back of Saturday it’s very encouraging.”
Way also gave a special mention to the 440 Green and Whites who made the trip to the Black Country.
“The amount of supporters that travelled was amazing,” he said.
“A big thank you must go to them. I’m very thankful as a manager and so are the players.”
Town are in action at Huish Park for the first time this season against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
