Three Glovers have completed their epic journey to visit every Premier League and EFL stadium in a fortnight for two very good causes.
Collecting signed items to auction off for the Adam Stansfield Foundation and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Martin McConachie and sons Ryan and Harry stopped off at every club in the top four tiers of English football – plus a few extra – in just two weeks.
The journey involved visiting up to nine stadiums a day, using a car donated by Musbury Garage in conjunction with Practical Car & Van Rental.
Now back home with a stash of balls, shirts, pennants, tickets and other items of memorabilia, Martin spoke to YTFC.net about the experience.
“It was awesome,” he said. “I can’t describe it. For me, to meet people like Peter Beardsley, Mark Lawrenson, Trevor Cherry and Frank Worthington was unforgettable.
“The boys were more impressing seeing the old Yeovil players though!
“I did it in 1998 on my own with no SatNav and organised it with a fax machine, so it was a lot easier this time around!”
Having started the challenge at Huish Park on Saturday 8th April, the journey came to an end across the border in Devon at the weekend as Martin and the boys took in Exeter City v Morecambe at St James Park.
With tickets paid for by Adam Stansfield’s sister as a thank you for raising money for the charity, the trio enjoyed two late stoppage time goals to see a Grecians win and round off the challenge in style.
