DOLAN PRAISES FANS AFTER VITAL THREE POINTS

18 April 2017

Midfielder Matty Dolan has praised the fans for sticking by the Glovers leading up to Monday’s 3-0 win against Crewe Alexandra.

Town had endured a spell which saw them fall to within just four points of the bottom two after Good Friday’s 1-0 loss at Newport County, but virtually ended relegation fears with the emphatic victory against the Railwaymen.

On his 100th appearance for the club, Dolan netted the opener with a pinpoint free-kick before Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Otis Khan rounded off the scoring.

With the gap to 23rd in Sky Bet League Two now seven points and with a far superior goal difference, the 24-year-old was quick to credit the fans.

“The fans have every right to voice their opinion,” Dolan told YTFC’s official YouTube channel

“We won’t hide and we have been on a bad run, but we stood up the plate today and we know exactly what we can do and there you go.

“It was nice to hear them singing for us at the end but they’ve stood by us through thick and thin and I think they deserve a lot of credit with the run we’ve been on, but we showed what we can do and hopefully, looking at other results, we can be over the line.”

Yeovil will now travel to Grimsby on Saturday looking to reach at least 50 points for the first time since the 2012/13 season in League One.

With that in mind, Dolan is keen to end the campaign on a high.

He said: “As players we stick together and stuck together when the first goal went in, stuck together with the gaffer, we were all there celebrating and at the end we were all celebrating with the fans.

“I think that’s massive going forward for the football club, we can think about the future now whereas before we put ourselves in a bit of a situation.

“We can look forward now and take all that positive energy into the next week and end on a high and look forward to next season.”
