HUISH PARK TO HOST ST MARGARET'S HOSPICE CHARITY WALK

6 September 2016

Yeovil Town Football Club are to help St Margaret’s Hospice raise some of the £7.5 million needed to operate each year by hosting the charity’s Great Somerset Night Walk.

Held on Saturday 17th September, the nine-mile walk will follow a circular route around the town, starting and finishing at Huish Park.

The walk will take in the night time views over Somerset from Ham Hill, with refreshments available from the Prince of Wales pub.

St. Margaret’s Hospice is a charity and needs to raise £7.5million every year to deliver their care. Therefore, the hospice is hugely reliant on the generosity of the Somerset community, something Yeovil Town Football Club is pleased to help with.

For those wishing to take part, registration will open at 7pm with the walk starting at 8pm taking around 3-4 hours to complete (including stoppage for refreshments).

Entry is £15 for adults and £10 for children (aged 6-16) and includes a t-shirt, medal and goody bag. Participants will also be able to personalise their t-shirts with florescent pens and stickers, ensuring they stand out as they wander into the night.

St. Margaret’s Events Manager, Richard Wallace, said: “The Great Somerset Walk has been a brilliant and well-supported event for many years, and we are really excited to be launching The Great Somerset Night Walk to build on this success. We hope that Somerset will enjoy the new challenge and look forward to the beautiful night time views across Somerset from Ham Hill.

“St. Margaret’s cares for over 3,200 people facing a life-limiting illness across Somerset each year and it is thanks to all of our amazing supporters who attend hospice events that we are able to continue to do so.”
