TOGETHERNESS THE BEST I'VE KNOWN - SHEPHARD

18 November 2016

Glovers defender Liam Shephard feels to the squad’s togetherness is the best he’s known at Huish Park.

The 21-year-old is enjoying a third loan spell at the club from Swansea City, having experienced relegation to League Two in 2015 and Football League survival last campaign.

However, now in 10th place in Sky Bet League Two and just one point off the play-offs, Shephard believes there’s a different feel around Huish Park.

He told YTFC’s official YouTube account: “It feels good; the environment is good. We had the seven or eight match unbeaten streak and I’ve never had that in the years I’ve been here.

“I feel the boys are all more together, stronger, and the morale is happier.

“The gaffer is doing really well and is very detailed with the information he passes across to us and I think we’re putting that into games.”

Town host Colchester United at Huish Park on Saturday looking to extend their five-game unbeaten run in League Two, buoyed by the fact Darren Way’s side have won four of their last five fixtures on home turf.

With 30 games left to play, Shephard believes the Glovers could be higher in the table.

“With the quality of the players we’ve got we should be higher (in the table) right now.

“With the amount of games we had it took its toll on us at the start and results didn’t go our way, but from here onward I think we’re going to get it.

“At the moment it's end-to-end. If we score it's coming straight back and we have to defend. When we do score we want to score again and the boys are forcing the play - including myself.

“I think once we start to feel the possession game it will come along nicely.”
