Manager Darren Way welcomed local charity The Hub to Huish Park on Tuesday morning after receiving a letter from service-user Michael.
The Hub supports young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, social communication and mental health issues, with Michael writing to the gaffer to see if the Club would support the charity’s auction next February.
After naming the Town manager as in ‘inspiration’, Darren Way invited Michael and a number of other Hub trainees to Huish Park for a stadium tour.
The trainees tried out the Huish Park dugouts and walked out of the tunnel before meeting Way and receiving a behind-the-scenes tour.
The Club also donated a family ticket for the charity’s auction, and will also supply a signed shirt for the event in February.
After meeting Darren Way, Michael said: “It was great to meet my local hero and team, it was a really good opportunity and I really enjoyed myself.”
With future visits to Huish Park in the offing, the Hub were equally pleased with the visit: “As a Yeovil charity we aim to work with as many local businesses and organisations to give our trainees meaningful work experience in their local area.
“This visit has been a massive boost to our trainee led fundraising and we hope to return to YTFC in the near future.
“The Hub Yeovil would like to thank YTFC for going the extra mile and giving our trainees a unique and unforgettable experience.”
Darren and the first team look forward to seeing Michael and his fellow trainees at Huish Park in the future.
