23 November 2016

A round-up from all the action in Sky Bet League Two.

Colchester United recorded their first win in 11 matches with an impressive display against 10-man Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.

The U’s, who suffered defeat to Town on Saturday, cruised to a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Craig Slater, Brennan Dickenson and Tom Eastman.

League leaders Plymouth Argyle suffered back-to-back home defeats for the first time this season as Barnet ran out 2-0 winners at Home Park.

French defender Bira Dembele opened the scoring with a header before the division’s top scorer John Akinde coolly slotted past Luke McCormick.

New Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans made it two wins in two as the Stags left it late to overcome Blackpool.

Substitute Danny Rose scrambled the ball home at the back post deep into injury time to move Mansfield up to ninth.

Another late goal in League Two saw Wycombe Wanderers secure three points over lowly Newport County.

Side Jombati’s 88th-minute free kick ensured the Choirboys ended County’s seven-game unbeaten run.

Crewe Alexandra moved in the play-offs after they came from behind to beat Morecambe.

Shrimpers’ frontman Rhys Turner finished neatly for the game’s opener before goals from Alex Kiwomya and James Jones turned the match on its head.

Tom Bolarinwa scored 12 minutes from time against Carlisle United to extend new Grimsby Town manager Marcus Bignot’s unbeaten start.

The Mariners had to come from behind twice to earn a point to keep them in sixth place.

Portsmouth earned a comfortable 3-1 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Luton Town.

The Hatters took an early lead but goals from Michael Smith, Gareth Evans and Kai Naismith eased Pompey to three points.

Hartlepool United benefited from controversial refereeing as they beat Accrington Stanley.

Pools were given a shock penalty, with Mark Hughes subsequently sent off, which Nicky Deverdics followed up to score before Lewis Alessandra notched in injury time.

Elsewhere, there were 1-0 wins for Cambridge United and Exeter City over Notts County and Leyton Orient respectively.
