Yeovil Town v Carlisle United
Yeovil Town and Carlisle United played out a cagey 0-0 draw at Huish Park with the Glovers continued their unbeaten record at home under Darren Way.
In what was a stop-start affair, Yeovil won what could be a precious point in the fight to stay up in League Two in a deserved point for both teams.
Darren Way made four changes to his team for the visit of the Cumbrians. Of the team that started the 3-0 defeat to Cambridge in the previous game, Connor Roberts was missing due to international duty for Wales under-21s, whilst Liam Walsh was suspended following his red card against the U’s.
The pair, plus Kevin Dawson and Harry Cornick, were swapped out for Jakub Sokolik, Matty Dolan, Ryan Bird and Jack Compton.
Town kicked off shooting towards the Copse Road End on a beautiful sunny day at Huish Park. Ben Tozer had the first real opportunity after about five minutes, but his strike from distance went well over Mark Gillespie’s goal.
But Yeovil were dealt an early blow as captain Darren Ward went to ground innocuously off the ball. The injured skipper limped off after just 16 minutes, and was replaced by Alex Lacey.
Carlisle had the visitors’ first big chance of the half, as debutant Jack Stacey picked up the ball on the right wing, cut inside and ran at the Yeovil defence. The Reading loanee shot stung Krysiak’s palms, but the Town ‘keeper kept hold of the ball with ease.
The first half eased to an end without much in the way of action, and Yeovil attacked the Thatchers Gold stand after the interval. On the hour mark, Brandon Goodship made way for Shaun Jefffers, making his first appearance since the 3-2 win away at AFC Wimbledon in February.
Visiting manager Keith Curle then introduced Jabo Ibehre and Derek Asamoah as Carlisle looked to get into the game. The former nearly opened the scoring within a minute of being introduced, but his powerful header from Tommy Miller’s long throw went wide.
Darren Way brought on Leroy Lita for Compton as the game reached the final fifteen minutes, but the game was very stop-start as the full time whistle loomed. Charlie Wyke very nearly won the game in the last few minutes but his header from Joyce’s cross went wide of Krysiak’s goal.
