Yeovil Town boss Darren Way is relishing the prospect of pitting his managerial wits against Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.

The Glovers will lock horns with the Blues on Tuesday night in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Way never faced Koeman in his playing days but recognises the job he has done since crossing the white line into the dugout.

“It is exciting when you can test yourself against a Premier League side at a Premier League ground,” he told “As a manager, I am really looking forward to challenging myself against a top-class coach like Ronald Koeman.

“Ronald is a fantastic manager who did very well at Southampton. He has a wealth of knowledge and was an unbelievable player. Everyone I’ve spoken to who knows him speaks very highly of him.

“It is always good to test yourself against someone of that calibre.”

Everton youngster Liam Walsh played a big part last season after he penned a loan deal in January, and Way has enjoyed a good connection with the Toffees over the years.

“I have a really good relationship with David Unsworth and Joe Royle,” he added. “Since I have taken over as manager we have had a good rapport with Everton, and of course we took Liam on loan last season.

“We have continued that relationship and I am looking forward to the game. I am sure it is going to be a great atmosphere and a great experience for our players.”

Both Way and Walsh feature in Tuesday’s matchday programme, priced at £3.50 and available from around Goodison Park or the Everton One club store.
