MATCH REPORTS FROM TRIAL GAMES AT HUISH PARK

9 May 2015

The first trial game ended in a 2-2 draw at Huish Park this afternoon.

The game got off to a bright start when the Greens took the lead on seven minutes from the penalty spot. Green 11 was brought down inside the box and the same player got up to convert successfully despite a decent attempt to save from the Yellow keeper.

Green 11 then fired over on the angle on 11 minutes and Yellow 9 was thwarted by a good save from the Green keeper. On 25 minutes though, the equaliser arrived and again, it was from a spot kick, this time for a push by Green 4. Yellow 6 finished confidently into the corner of the net.

Green 8 had a chance to regain the lead from 22 yards but his free kick deflected wide for a corner. However on 39 minutes, the move of the first half produced a second goal for the Greens. Their number 7 collected the ball on the halfway line and knocked inside to Green 6 who sprayed the ball wide left with a superb ball. The cross came in and Green 7, who'd continued his run, finished past the Yellow keeper.

The second period began with the Yellows on the attack and Yellow 10 stung the keepers hands with an early shot and Yellow 8 also tested him with a shot from distance. Yellow 7 was impressing as the game progressed with quick darting runs and good close skills and he twice went close to levelling the score.

With seven minutes to go, the Yellows did finally level and it was through Yellow 7 who crossed for Yellow 11 to finish at the far post.

The second trial game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

The game took a little longer to catch alight with just four chances in total in a quiet first half. White 10 headed straight at the keeper on 14 minutes and White 11's volley landed on the roof of the net from an acute angle before White 9 hit a screamer that crashed against the front of the crossbar.

Gold 9 had a couple of efforts either side of the interval, one a curling effort that the White keeper pushed around the post and a lob that the keeper held easily. Gold 7 then tested the White keeper again with a fierce shot that was well parried. On the hour mark, Gold 9 came close again with a volley that went just wide.

Late on, there were chances at either end with Gold 13 going close with a thirty harder and White 7 way off target with a shot. White 9 then brought a good save from the Gold keeper but the game ended goalless.
