GETTING TO KNOW YOU - LEYTON ORIENT

22 June 2015

It has been a torrid 12 months for Leyton Orient. After narrowly losing the League One Playoff Final to Rotherham United in May 2014, Manager Russell Slade left the club to join Cardiff City.

Kevin Nugent, Mauro Milanese and Fabio Liverani all took turns in the O’s hotseat but none of them could stop the slide and a disappointing relegation to the fourth tier of English football was ultimately confirmed.

Ian Hendon is now tasked with trying to reverse Orient’s fortunes and an immediate return to League One will surely be a realistic priority as he aims to rebuild a club that he was twice signed on for as a player in the 1990’s.

Founded in 1881 as the Eagle Cricket Club, the London-based team play their home games at the Matchroom Stadium and wear a primarily red home kit with a white trim.

Distance from Huish Park: 152 miles (around three hours, 15 minutes).

2014-15 season final position: 23rd in League One (relegated).

Odds on to finish: Win outright 9/1, promotion 2/1, relegation 20/1 (all odds sought from SkyBet).

Super stat: Leyton Orient hold the record for the quickest goal ever scored in a Playoff Final - Chris Tate scoring for the O’s after just 27 seconds against Blackpool in 2001.
