HELP SUPPORT THE #PEDALFROMPARIS CYCLISTS

20 April 2015

Yeovil Town staff member James Healey will be donning some ill fitting lycra along with over 100 other cyclists to take part in the #PedalfromParis charity ride.

Each cyclist is taking up the challenge of pedalling 386km from Paris to Huish Park in order to raise money for three very worthy charities. The three charities that are set to benefit from the fundraising on the ride are the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, Cyclists Fighting Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.

Last year 64 cyclists pedalled from Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium to Huish Park to raise over £50,000!

One of the driving forces behind the ride Ben Tupman said: "We’ll be leaving Huish Park on Wednesday 28th April and making our way to St Pancras station to catch the Eurostar to Paris. Two days cycling and an overnight ferry back will leave us with around 120 miles of riding before meeting up with our friends, families and supporters for a day of fundraising.

"We’ve been really fortunate in that Yeovil Town FC have completely embraced our cause. The chairman and his team have very kindly given us full use of Huish Park to put on, not only a big welcome home, but the opportunity to bring the spirit of "Get Pedalling" to those that haven’t been able to join us on the ride.

"Sunday 3rd May will be a Charity Day with football, live music, children’s entertainment and a beer festival. There is no entry cost, just buckets for people to pay what they feel. The day will round off with a charity auction following a celebrity football match between a Tom White XI and a Terry Cotton’s Legends XI.

"You are guaranteed to see some of your heroes from yesteryear and may even manage to sneak in a pint with them at the bar of the beer festival! Events begin at 11am with three public football matches – an opportunity for you to grace the Huish Park surface with your friends.

"We’d love to see as many people there as possible to round off the end of the YTFC Get Pedalling story."
