The bookmakers make Fleetwood the heavy favourites to succeed at Wembley but in the head to head battles this season it’s actually the Brewers who come out on top.
The sides have met four times, twice in the league and twice in the FA Cup.
Burton won at Fleetwood in the league and eventually came through the two legged tie before Fleetwood returned the away win favour in the final league meeting back in January.
Both sides have shared the goals about this season, unlike the other four play-off finalists neither of these sides have one single goal getter who have projected them up the table.
For the Lancashire side, Antoni Sarcevic has 13 goals with a number of others sat on 7, 8 and 10 goals just behind him.
Burton front man Billy Kee will be hoping to unlock the Red’s defence and add to his 12 goals this term.
But if it’s not to be Kee, then Adam McGurk, who netted in both semi finals will be more than happy to step up and take the responsibility.
Burton came through an enthralling two legged tie against Southend United, a dull 1-0 win at home was to prove the difference after the two sides slogged out a 2-2 draw in the return leg.
Fleetwood made a much less emphatic deal of their progression, a 1-0 away win at York and 0-0 draw at home was enough to see them through.
The Highbury side have been well backed by their chairman and it might be the difference when it comes to a big Wembley final.
Fleetwood finished in fourth place just missing out on the automatic spots, but I feel they’ll be better prepared for this final.
However, Gary Rowett will have his side prepared and battling for their chance to reach League One for the first time.
So, I’m going to suggest backing a number of markets that suggest a tight and close affair.
Here are my bets for the League Two play-off final.
Draw in 90 minutes – 9/4.
Both teams to score and a draw result in 90 minutes – 3/1
Fleetwood to win in Extra Time – 8/1
Both teams to score in the first 45 minutes – 4/1
And something a little bit different…
Billy Kee to score in 90 minutes – 6/4
Not a particularly special bet, however, his wife is due to give birth any day.
Kee has promised to play in the game even if his wife goes into labour; could he give his new born a quite special birthday present?
