KEVIN'S HOPING FOR STARTING SPOT

25 March 2014

Midfielder Kevin Dawson is hoping to retain his spot in the starting eleven at Leicester this evening after a mixed afternoon in the 2-2 draw with Bolton on Saturday.

The 23-year-old scored his first goal in the second tier against Wanderers last weekend and won the Glovers a penalty in the second half in his first start since February 8th.

However, Dawson’s personal performance was overshadowed by Gary Johnson’s side surrendering a 2-0 lead, which left the Irishman with mixed emotions.

“It was nice to get a start and to grab a goal but I would have taken a win more than any of that. It was my first Championship goal and it was a great feeling to go 2-0 up in a big game so everyone was just delighted.

“We’re a great bunch of lads and get along really well so as you can imagine we all felt the same pain at the weekend.”

Yeovil head to table-toppers Leicester this evening hoping to inflict a first defeat on Nigel Pearson’s side in 17 matches, and Dawson hopes to have retained his spot in the starting line-up.

“Obviously it’s a team game and there are a lot of games but we’ll see what happens and hopefully I’ll stay in.

“We’ve got to go and face Leicester; everyone wants to play in the big games and we’re playing Leicester who are probably going to be in the Premiership next season so why not go out and give it our all and see what happens.”
