JAMES HAYTER MAKES 700TH CAREER APPEARANCE

6 December 2014

James Hayter made his 700th senior professional appearance in league and cup football after starting in today's tie with Accrington Stanley.

James started his professional career at AFC Bournemouth where he made 407 appearances for the South coast side, including substitute appearances, scoring 107 goals.

In 2007 James moved to Doncaster Rovers for a reported fee of £200,000 where he chalked up another 179 outings including substitute appearances,  scoring 39 goals.

In 2012 James signed for Yeovil Town and to date has made 89 starts for The Glovers with 24 substitute appearances scoring 26 goals.

Probably James’ biggest claim to fame was when, on 24th February 2004, he came on as a sub in the 84th minute against Wrexham and scored a hat trick in 2 minutes 20 seconds, the quickest ever in the Football League as AFC Bournemouth went on to record a 6-0 victory.

Watch out for the programme at the next Yeovil Town home match which will include a 16 page section  featuring everything you need to know to be an authority on the Glovers’ number nine including photographic memories of his career so far.

Everybody at Yeovil Town congratulates James on this magnificent achievement and look forward to James going on to beat Peter Shilton’s record of 1005 matches.
