"WE HAVE TO KEEP GOING" - GARY

9 April 2014

Manager left ruing lapses in concentration.

After Tuesday night’s narrow 3-2 defeat at Charlton manager Gary Johnson was left ruing lapses of concentration which saw the Glovers concede early in each half.

Yeovil fell behind in the 10th minute when Astrit Ajdarevic struck from distance, before the Addicks scored twice in three minutes just after the break to make it 3-1 and give the Glovers a mountain to climb.

Kieffer Moore’s strike with 12 minutes left raised the anxiety levels amongst the home support at The Valley, but a second defeat in three matches left Johnson bemoaning individual errors.

“We always say about the first five minutes with our concentration whether it be the first half or the second half and the boys have got to learn to concentrate as individuals as well as a team.

“Of course, all three goals were in the first five or ten minutes of the first half and second half. No matter what you do and how you work on it it's really down to the individuals to be able to concentrate.

“It was a catalogue of errors, a couple of people miss-hit something and then the other one is not picking up someone else. It's really, really disappointing because it's not necessarily anyone's attitude; it's a mistake or someone being clever on the opposition, it's somebody losing one of their players, or a set play which happened for the second so it will take a couple of days to get over this one but we've got to try and get over it and keep going until the fat lady sings.”

Defeat leaves Yeovil bottom of the table and six points from safety, but the Glovers gaffer believes there is still a fight to be had to avoid the drop.

“I was looking at it if we won this one then we would've been in with it, but we've lost that good play that we had in the last game where we won, that's been lost now because we've come here and lost.

“It's not a crime to be in the Championship and lose a game 3-2 but it was an important game and this group seem to just not quite get it together when it's needed at this level so we will have to wait and see and see if we can't pick ourselves up and see what we do, there's still a fight down there, we're not out of it just yet.”
