JAMES HOPING TEAM BOUNCES BACK

11 April 2014

Striker James Hayter hopes the Glovers’ trend of bouncing back after a disappointing defeat will continue on Saturday when Bournemouth arrive at Huish Park.

Hayter, who made over 350 appearances for The Cherries, will draw inspiration from last weekend’s 2-1 win at Blackpool but admits Yeovil needed to cut out the costly mistakes.

“I thought we performed really well at Blackpool; we got a good win and thoroughly deserved it and probably should have won by a few more goals on the day.

“We still managed to score a couple of goals on Tuesday night and had a couple of other chances so as long we can cut out a couple of mistakes that we've conceded from we've still got a proper chance.

“We take each game as it comes and on the back of a bad result we've managed to bounce back in previous games and we have got to try and look to do that now.”

Victory at Bloomfield Road came off the back of a disappointing defeat at home to Barnsley, and veteran striker Hayter believes staying in the game as long as possible will give the Glovers the best chance of victory against Eddie Howe’s side.

“We need to try and win games; we managed to score goals in the last few games despite losing Ishmael and things so as long as we keep that going and be more solid defensively then I think we have got a chance of hopefully winning some games.

“We need to stay in games as long as we can and hopefully look to score first. I think then teams will start to come at you and then you exploit that, but first and foremost we've got to try and stay in the game and not concede easy goals.”

A Yeovil win would galvanise hopes of beating the drop whilst denting Bournemouth’s hopes of a late surge into the play-offs, and despite the obvious ties, Hayter admits he would celebrate should he score against his former employers.

“I've played them three times since I’ve been here and lost all three so I would like to put that right if I can.

“I would celebrate, but I'm not the craziest when I score anyway!”
