The Glovers took a first half lead through Kieffer Moore’s thunderbolt from the edge of the box, before Byron Webster’s clearance midway through the second half ricocheted off of Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser and looped over Marek Stech.
Fraser’s ‘effort’ was the only shot which troubled Yeovil’s Czech stopper all afternoon, and left Johnson with mixed emotions.
“We're gutted because of the way they got the equaliser but we've got to be happy that the lads have got their mojo back. They played some really good football; we defended well and were up against a side that needed to win to keep their hopes alive of getting into the play-offs. Obviously, their hopes are still alive and so are ours.
“I was just so pleased that we entertained, the crowd I thought were very good, and they were entertained and they showed that. It was just a gutting equaliser because I felt we deserved to get something more than a draw.
“There's only one place where that ball could have gone in and that was in the top, far corner where Marek wouldn't be able to reach it. I can't dwell on that so I'm going to go with the positives and say that we really played well today and I was really pleased with the work-rate and with the quality, we played some good football and we matched them in every department today.”
A point was enough to move the Glovers off of the bottom of the table up one place to 23rd and leaves them five points from safety with four games remaining, and the Yeovil gaffer knows the importance of collecting three points next time out at Blackburn.
“After every round of weekend's you look at it, and yes we are a little bit closer, but it means that the next games become even more important to get that win. We need that win and it would have been handy today but anyway, you've got to get your form back.
“It's no use saying 'we've got to win the next three' and be playing really poorly, so at least we know we've hit our form today and hopefully we can go into these big games coming up in the last four against some teams who are still challenging for the play-offs and we've got to try and win at least two or three of them.”
