The experienced 28-year-old has been a long-standing target for boss Darren Way has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Huish Park after failing to agree a new deal with Carlisle United.

He featured in both of the Cumbrians’ play-off semi-final clashes with Exeter City and sees no reason why Town can’t achieve a top six finish in 2017/18.

Bailey also admits Way was a huge part in his reason for signing.

“I don’t see why we can’t make the play-offs,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“The manager has that desire, and we need the same desire as players. I’m just looking forward to getting going more than anything.”

Bailey added: “The gaffer attracted me with what he wants out of the players, the formation that he’s playing and how attacking minded he wants us. It just seemed promising to me.

“I remember playing against them and they pressed very high, the forwards were bombing all the time attacking and pressing, and I’m just looking forward to getting going more than anything.”

Bailey ame through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra, and gained Sky Bet Championship experience at Derby County before going on to play in India and Canada.

Now contracted at Huish Park until the summer of 2019, the combative midfielder is pleased to be able to focus on the forthcoming season.

“Most of my friends in football are back now in pre-season and I was edging to get involved myself so thankfully this has happened,” he said.

“Pre-season is important for yourself fitness-wise and can put you in good stead for the season but also to meet the players and get that team spirit going early.”
