19th May 2017

Friday, May 19th marks 10 years since Wembley once again became the home of English football, with the iconic arch being lit up in the colours of every football team who has played at the famous arena since its reopening.

One hundred and sixty six domestic, European and international men’s and women’s football teams have graced the Wembley turf in the last decade across a variety of competitions and friendlies, with the Glovers lucky enough to have walked out at Wembley on two occasions in the last decade (with mixed fortunes!).

May 27th 2007 saw Yeovil face Blackpool in the League One play-off final, with strikes from Robbie Williams and Keigan Parker condemning the Green and Whites to heartache in London.

However, six years later and Gary Johnson’s side returned once again to compete in the League One play-off final, with memorable moments from Paddy Madden and Dan Burn enough to see out a 2-1 win over Brentford and reach the Championship – the highest the level the club has ever reached in its history.

Ironically, Town’s Wembley success played out on May 19th, with fans able to relive the day on our official Twitter account by clicking here

To mark the anniversary, and in a show of gratitude to all the clubs, Wembley Stadium displayed each of the club or national colours on the famous arch. The name and crests of the clubs were also shown on the outside of the stadium.

We think Wembley looks best in green and white!
