Gary Johnson wants to make his third loan signing in as many weeks and add to his Yeovil Town squad before Saturday’s trip to Preston North End. The Glovers have lost four npower League One clashes in a row, the latest coming against Sheffield United at the weekend. Smith arrived from Norwich City ahead of the 1-0 defeat at MK Dons, while Bristol City’s Joe Edwards returned to Huish Park on Friday. However, Rohan Ince is receiving treatment on his ankle at parent club Chelsea and Archange Nkumu’s current deal has expired.

Sheffield United returned to winning ways in npower League One with a narrow 1-0 victory at beleaguered Yeovil. A bullet header from captain Neill Collins fired the unbeaten Blades to their first win in four matches – condemning the Glovers to a fourth consecutive league defeat. In a first half that lacked fluency, both sides created opportunities but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. Yeovil goalkeeper Marek Stech pushed an early free-kick from Tony McMahon over the bar, before Collins and Paul Gallagher were both denied.

Changes to personnel and formation were not enough to prevent an improved Yeovil Town slump to their worst run of Football League defeats. Sheffield United captain Neil Collins’ second half header split the teams in npower League One at Huish Park, condemning the Glovers to a fourth successive loss for the first time since promotion in 2003. However, the hosts matched their physical opposition for long periods and created chances of their own despite switching from a 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 shape.

Danny Wilson was delighted after seeing his team overcome Yeovil Town to net three vital points at Huish Park on Saturday. Neill Collins second-half strike settled the contest in Somerset and speaking afterwards the Blades boss heaped praise on his players: "It was a strong and determined performance, Yeovil had a few chances early on but we scrambled the ball clear and Mark (Howard) came to our resure on a couple of occasions.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson felt his side were worthy of a point in their 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday. In the end, a bullet header from Blades captain Neill Collins 10 minutes after the break was all that separated the two sides at Huish Park.

Danny Wilson hailed Sheffield United’s commitment as Neill Collins’s second-half header extended their unbeaten start to the season to eight games. It was only their third win of that sequence, but in a complete performance, it came courtesy of a 55th-minute header from Collins who glanced home Paul Gallagher’s corner.

“It was a strong and determined performance,” said Wilson, whose side climbed back into the play-off places with the win. Yeovil had a few chances early on but we scrambled the ball clear and Mark (Howard) came to our rescue on a couple of occasions."
