Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson is threatening a clear-out after seeing his side slip to a fifth straight defeat. After Gavin Williams’ first-half penalty put the Glovers ahead, goals from Jeffrey Monakana, Chris Beardsley and a Dan Burn own-goal effectively sealed the points for Preston after the break. Football League debutant Burn scored at the right end to complete a topsy-turvy afternoon and reduce the arrears but Johnson was not happy.

Ten-man Yeovil Town hit the self-destruct button in a disastrous second half at Preston North End, condemning them to their fifth straight defeat. The Glovers have never lost so many consecutive Football League games since promotion in 2003 but capitulating after the break ensured their mediocre hosts cantered to a 3-2 npower League One victory. Jeffrey Monakana’s strike, two own goals and Ed Upson’s red card after the break undermined a promising start from Gary Johnson’s men and an interval lead earned by Gavin Williams’ penalty.

Gary Johnson slammed his ‘timid’ Yeovil team following their fifth League One defeat on the spin, vowing to whittle out under-performing players. The Glovers led 1-0 at the break at Preston, but three second-half strikes and Ed Upson’s red card for two bookings in eight minutes brought their demise. Having notched ten points in four games, Johnson’s men are yet to add to the tally with the manager saying he had demanded a stronger mindset before travelling to Deepdale.

Graham Westley commended a strong second-half performance from his Preston side in their victory over Yeovil. In the first half of the 3-2 win at Deepdale, North End were simply not at the races, falling behind to an early Gavin Williams penalty. But after the interval, Jeffrey Monakana brought them level, before own goals from Luke Ayling – which is being claimed by Chris Beardsley – and Daniel Burn put them in command. Burn netted at the other end to ensure a nervous last few minutes, PNE holding out to climb to ninth place in League One.

North End came from behind at the interval to defeat Yeovil Town 3-2 in a thrilling second half at Deepdale. A first league strike from Jeffrey Monakana and a close range header from Chris Beardsley were added to by an own goal Dan Burn, which gave the Lilywhites the win, having gone behind to Gavin Williams’ early first half penalty. A late goal from Burn – scoring at both ends – meant a few bitten fingernails, but North End held on for three valuable home points.
