The Glovers went toe-to-toe with the Imps who’ve lost at home just once all season and only succumbed to Mark O’Hara’s header with a little over 20 minutes remaining.

It was the Glovers’ first defeat in three after a recent resurgence in form but Pattison saw the positives to take forward.

“We came with a game plan and executed it well until the goal,” he told iFollow Glovers. “We knew they were a threat from crosses and direct balls and they managed to get one in.

“Josh (Grant) dealt with their right winger all night to stop the cross but they’re the things we’ve got to cut out to get a result here.

“We do feel we should’ve got something from the game but it wasn’t a game we were expected to win and now we go onto Tuesday where we’ve got some momentum and we’re expected to win.”

Having seen off Cambridge United and Morecambe before the trip to Lincolnshire, the green and whites now face two more sides around them in the form of Port Vale and Macclesfield.

Now back in the side following a two-month injury lay-off with a back problem, the Middlesbrough loanee sees no excuses for Town not to pull away from the bottom two.

“We’ve got a great team spirit at the moment. We know we shouldn’t be where we are in the league with the players we’ve got and everyone is back fit now so there’s no excuses.

“We should get results week in, week out at home and hopefully get a few points on the road and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t stay up.

“We’re going to Port Vale expecting to win. We’ll give it everything we can for the fans and hopefully come back with the three points.”
