The former Luton Town man was selected on the right of midfield and delivered an excellent cross for Sam Surridge to net the Glovers’ second of the night.

It was his first start since the opening day and the 21-year-old is itching to have the opportunity to stake a place for a permanent role in the side.

“It was nice to be back in the team,” Gray told iFollow Glovers.

“It was a difficult night and the conditions weren’t the best but it was nice to get an assist.

“It would be great for me to get a run in the team, start putting in some performances and try and get some goals, and more assists. It’s something I’m looking to do.”

Gray could begin his second consecutive game when Yeovil travel to Grimsby Town this weekend.

The midfielder featured against the Mariners last season and is confident Town can register their first three points on the road at Blundell Park.

He said: “I played them last year at Luton – the ground is quite tight. It was a tough game and they’re a physical side.

“Everyone is positive because we’re still unbeaten at home. We’ve just got to go again and take our good home form into Saturday and get our first away win in the league.

“We’ve been working on what we want to be doing against them, know what to expect and we’re looking forward to it.”
