The Glovers have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two Sky Bet League Two fixtures – one of which ended their unbeaten start at home this season.

However, Irish midfielder Smith has expressed his belief some of Yeovil’s performances have merited more points and believes the players’ unity will stand them in good stead over the next month.

“We’ve got a really, really good group who are together,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“Everyone has been aggressive in training and all the lads have stuck together and we know what we want to do.

“To be honest, I’ve been in groups that haven’t got the ability we have here. Some of our form has warranted better results.

“We’re seven points off relegation and nine points off the play-offs so we know it’s a fine line.

“If we go out and get a couple of wins we’ll be right back up there and we know we’re good enough to do that.

“We’ve had a really, really good week so we’re confident and feel strong going into Saturday.

“Together we’re strong and hopefully the results will come in the next few weeks.”

David Artell’s Crewe ended a five-game losing streak in the league with a 1-0 win over Stevenage last week.

The Alex switched their usual style of play for a more direct approach to stop the rot, and Smith says he isn’t surprised.

He said: “I played against Crewe a couple of times last year and they do try and play football but with the run they’ve had, they’ve gone a bit more direct but you’d expect that.

“Every game is tough in this league; teams pose different threats which we’ll look into and we’ll look to expose their weaknesses.”

Smith continued: “Every game is an opportunity to win. We beat Accrington and Coventry here so we know we can beat anybody.

“We go into every game thinking we can win and that’s what we’ll try and do Saturday.

“We’ve had a really, really good build-up going into it and we’re feeling good.”
