Yeovil Town were held to a scoreless draw at Huish Park by in-form Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon.

In what was a relatively tame affair, neither side found the attacking touch to make their chances pay.

On the balance of play, neither side could really feel aggrieved at the draw, which was the second between the two sides this season.

The first half was played in a timid fashion, with chances at a premium for both sides. The visitors enjoyed a vast amount of the ball, but rarely tested Grant Smith.

The Glovers no.1 was forced into just one save in the first half, as he stood tall when Callum Maycock found room to poke an effort in his direction from a tight angle.

Frustratingly for Darren Sarll, he was forced into an early change as Jordan Barnett was unable to shake off an injury and had to be replaced by Lawson D’Ath.

Despite the Moors’ control of possession, it was Town who had the best chance of the half. Tom Knowles found Charlie Wakefield who beat the offside trap for a one-on-one but he almost had too much time to think about his strike as he failed to beat Ryan Boot.

The second half was a far more entertaining affair, with both sides far more adventurous in possession. Its early stages saw Town work the ball round the Solihull defence eventually finding Knowles on the edge of the box who turned quickly and shot but fired straight into Boot’s gloves.

Ten minutes into the half, Matt Worthington found Knowles darting into the right-hand side box, he beat two defenders and forced a corner with his poked effort, which ultimately led to nothing.

However, the best chance of the opening stages of the second half fell to Solihull. Danny Newton, who played under Sarll at Stevenage, escaped the Yeovil backline and rounded Smith, but fortunately for the Glovers, his effort hit the side-netting.

As the half grew on, chances came and went for both sides, with the best falling to Knowles with just under ten to play. The winger was found by an off-balance Wakefield but he couldn’t direct his first-time effort on target.

Late in the day, Solihull were reduced to ten after Jordan Cranston received his second yellow card, but it was too late to really influence proceedings.
