Town made the trip to newly re-homed Coventry City and returned empty handed after a 2-1 defeat to the Sky Blues.
Defender Reda Johnson opened the scoring for the hosts early in the first half with a powerful header before Sam Foley equalised for the Glovers after 50 minutes.
The hosts restored their lead with just over 20 minutes remaining when Simeon Jackson beat Weale from close range.
The home side were quick out of the blocks and put the Town back line under early pressure forcing three corners in quick succession.
It was from the third corner the Sky Blues took the lead. Jim O’Brien’s in swinging corner from the right was met perfectly by Johnson, who made no mistake is powerfully heading home.
Town’s first chanve of the first half came in the 16th minute when Edwards was fouled 25 yards from goal. From the resulting free kick Foley’s shot was deflected into the arms of keeper Allsop.
As the first half ticked along Town nearly drew level on the half hour mark. A Joe Edwards cross was picked up by Ajay Leitch-Smith who fired the ball towards goal, but his shot came back off the crossbar. The loose ball fell into the path of Hayter whose overhead kick went narrowly wide of the upright.
The Glovers made an early substitute in the second half with James Hayter being replaced by Joel Grant.
Within two minutes of entering the field Grant was involved in Town equalising. The Jamaican international held the ball up well before passing to Jack Price whp played a smart through ball to Foley, who beat the offside trap to poke to ball past Allsop.
On the hour mark Town had a strong penalty claim waved away by referee Witestone. Coventry defender Jordan Willis slipped in his own area and in thr process tripped goal scorer Foley but much to the amazement of the away fans the referee waved play on.
The home side made it 2-1 on 68 minutes thanks to substitute Jackson. Keeper Weale saved striker Nouble’s initial shot but the Canadian international scrambled the ball home from close range to restore the home teams advantage.
