Yeovil Town host table toppers Stockport County in National League action on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

After a difficult bank holiday weekend, the Glovers’ challenge doesn’t get any easier with Stockport in red hot form.

However, Yeovil have already beaten Stockport once this season, with an emphatic 3-0 victory at Edgeley Park in September.

Charlie Lee’s thoughts

Commenting in his press conference, Lee said; “They are a Football League team, there’s no way around that. They are the strongest team in the league, with the biggest budget and in turn the best players.

“They’re on an incredible run, but I know they’ll be disappointed with their last performances.

“It’ll be tough, but it’s a great game for our lads. We feel like we can give them a really tough game, we’re really confident going into Saturday.”

Team news

Town will certainly be without Olufela Olomola who had his loan spell cut short by Hartlepool due to injuries in their squad.

Ben Barclay will also sit out due to his loan agreement, however Max Hunt is in line for a return to the starting eleven. Middlesborough loanee Jack Robinson could make the bench after a lengthy lay off

Josh Staunton remains injured and is unlikely to return this season.

A foot in the opposition camp

It’s been a season to remember in Stockport, who sit rosy at the top of the National League. After a tough start, Dave Challinor was brought in and ignited a promotion charge.

Leading the line for Challinor is a man Yeovil Town fans know well, Paddy Madden. The Irish forward was part of the Glovers side which was promoted to the Championship in 2013, and scored a memorable goal at Wembley against Brentford.

Other former Glovers include Myles Hippolyte and Courtney Duffus who were part of the Glovers side which reached the play-offs in 19/20.

Have we met before?

Glovers fans have fond memories of facing the Hatters this season. In September, Yeovil struck three times without reply at Edgeley Park to take home three points.

However, prior to this, the Glovers don’t always have great memories of facing Stockport. Notably during the 18/19 season where then a National League North side knocked out the League Two Glovers from the FA Cup.
