14th January 2022

Yeovil Town continue their FA Trophy campaign on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as Needham Market visit Huish Park.

Winless in 2022, Darren Sarll is desperate for his side to taste that winning feeling once again, so expect a strong line-up from the Glovers.

Needham Market have already toppled one National League side (Wealdstone) to reach the Fourth Round, and will be looking to add another scalp to their list in what has been billed as the biggest game in their history.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking remotely due to a family funeral, Sarll spoke on the need to return to winning ways for Yeovil Town.

“This moment it’s even bigger for us. Like I said on Tuesday, I might’ve been tempted in the past to give players minutes to keep them motivated but it’s more important we get back to winning ways.

“We need to experience winning again and see what that looks like. Just because you play a different team, it doesn’t mean it will come any easier.

We need to give ourselves the best chance of winning the game. There still might be a couple of tweaks and changes, especially after (Luke) Wilkinson was taken off the other night.”

Team news

Sarll has insisted that he will name a strong line-up in the FA Trophy, but kept coy on who will be starting. When pressed for who will be starting between the sticks, the boss refused to confirm whether it would be Grant Smith or Max Evans that would don the Gloves.

After being substituted on Tuesday evening, Luke Wilkinson will not play a part, with Sarll expecting a six-week lay-off for the defender.

Mark Little could be in line for his first minutes of the season following the departure of Millwall loanee Dan Moss.

Joe Quigley and Reuben Reid enjoyed a successful cameo on Tuesday evening against Southend, with Reid bagging a consolation goal. They could both be involved from the start on Saturday.

Have we met before?

No, we haven’t! This is the first time the Glovers have met the Marketmen in their history!

A foot in the opposition camp

Despite operating at the lower end of the football pyramid, Needham Market have a well-known face in the dugout, in former Northern Ireland international Kevin Horlock.

His side have already beaten National League opposition this season, turning over Wealdstone in the last round with a 2-1 victory.

Many in the Needham camp have not hidden from the magnitude of the fixture, stating that it’s the biggest in the football club’s history. This year is the club’s record run in the FA Trophy and will be hoping to cause a shock and extend that record even further.
