Set pieces were an area Way identified as the Exiles’ strength prior to the match and they proved to be the Glovers downfall in South Wales.

Padraig Amond and Joss Labadie headed home corners from former Yeovil midfielder Matty Dolan either side of the break, something Way felt his side were ‘bullied’ at.

“We knew about it and we’d worked on it all week,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“I think 57 per cent of their goals have been scored from set plays and are probably the best side I’ve seen at them – their stats suggest that.

“I understand the supporters’ frustrations. We knew their threat and as far as our preparation is concerned we did everything we could to combat that, and as always I accept responsibility.”

Way added: “We’re a team I wouldn’t say are naturally built like Newport.

“I think Newport are built for (the set piece) game. They have recruited for that strength.

“We have to make sure we understand League Two football. I keep saying it every week one or two younger players have got to live up to that.

“I just felt at times they bullied us. I don’t like that – not to be bullied. It’s one thing that should never happen in football.

“I accept missed tackles and arriving late, but I thought they bullied us from start to finish.”
