The 37-year-old has utilised the loan system well since taking over as manager in December 2015, forming good relationships with Premier League sides such as Bournemouth, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Brom.

Way welcomed nine loanees to the club last season and is confident of using the market successfully again in the near future.

He said in his extended interview with BBC Somerset: “We all know I’ve used the loan system well in my year-and-a-half in charge with the likes of Liam Walsh, Connor Roberts, Liam Shephard, Ben Whitfield and Matt Butcher proving invaluable.

“Ryan Hedges unfortunately did too well and we lost him within four months of a year loan so we have to make sure if that’s the case this year we have replacements lined up.

“The targets that we’re looking at, the Premier League managers will want to look at them in pre-season too because they need numbers. Some we took last season went on trips with their first-teams.

“I was very lucky to get Hedges and Shephard from Swansea City from the start of the season and I’ll probably look at getting two before the season starts.

“Hopefully the club will be kind to us and allow that to happen and for the other targets we may have to be more patient.

“I have to make sure I do my homework because the loans are so important and I have to make sure they’re the right player.”
