26th April 2021

Yeovil Town will look to exact some revenge on Tuesday evening (7pm) as Solihull Moors visit Huish Park.

After a humbling 5-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon, Darren Sarll and his squad have the opportunity to right Saturday’s wrong with a strong performance against the Moors.

Saturday’s defeat saw Town drop to 16th place in the league, just three points behind our opponents Solihull who sit in 15th.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking following Saturday’s defeat, Sarll said, ““I thought we looked really mentally tired today, “he told BBC Somerset, post-match. “If you look at our decision making, force or even energy, I think we looked really fatigued mentally and it can’t be down to our physicality as we’ve had a clear week of playing.

“Mentally, there’s probably a real good reason for that, but four of their five goals were from set-pieces. This is the National League – any league – the Championship – and we’ve just got to control the box much better aerially. I thought we were very poor of that, and the two centre backs know my feelings on that.”

Team news

Luke Wilkinson limped off in the first half on Saturday after injuring his calf and could sit out at Huish Park.

Long-term absentees Josh Staunton and Lawson D’Ath also remain unavailable for Tuesday’s game.

Head-to-head

Saturday’s defeat was Town’s first to the Moors since relegation to the National League.

Last season’s clash at Huish Park wasn’t one for the history books, with a 0-0 draw in January 2020.

A more memorable encounter came in September 2019 as Luke Wilkinson stole the show, scoring the only goal of the game alongside playing the last 10 minutes in goal due to an injury to Liam O’Brien.

A foot in the opposition camp

The star man for the visitors is goalkeeper Ryan Boot, the 26-year-old goalkeeper turned professional in April 2013 when at Port Vale, having initially been an academy player at Stoke City. In a five-year career at Vale Park, he made 28 appearances and had various loan spells at Worcester City, Newcastle Town, and Macclesfield.

He joined the Moors in the summer of 2018 after being released from Vale upon the expiry of his contract. The number one went on to play in every minute of every National League game in his first season and kept 20 clean sheets.

After enjoying another successful season in the West Midlands prior to the suspension of the league, he earnt himself a new contract with the club last July. He has proved his worth between the sticks again this season, registering 12 clean sheets and amassing 33 National League appearances to date.
