19th February 2021

Yeovil Town travel to Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm) to face high-flying Hartlepool United.

After back-to-back wins, Darren Sarll’s Glovers will be full of confidence going into the National league clash with Dave Challinor’s side.

After a flying start to 2021, Hartlepool most recently suffered a defeat on the road to Eastleigh on Tuesday evening, losing 2-1 at the Silverlake Stadium.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Sarll said; “I think our strike force has been fantastic in the last couple of games. The great thing about our attacking players is that they are all very different, are in different stages of their career and offer a variety of different aspects to the team.

“One player who doesn’t receive the credit he deserves often enough is Chris Dagnall. No one has a bigger influence on our play than him. He is a brilliant professional footballer and is a serious character amongst the dressing room.

“Reuben on the other hand has been brilliant since he came in and has really shown his leadership skills. He needed that goal on Tuesday and hopefully he can thrive off that and both score and contribute to more in the coming games.”

Team news

Despite serving his suspension, club captain Lee Collins will be unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Hartlepool due to a positive COVID case within his household.

Emmanuel Sonupe has returned to training but is unlikely to be fit enough to play a part at Victoria Park.

Josh Staunton, Luke Wilkinson and Lawson D’Ath remain injured.

Sarll confirmed in his press conference that he expects Billy Sass-Davies to be fit for Saturday’s game after being substituted on Tuesday evening.

A foot in the opposition camp

Hartlepool United have enjoyed a promising first half of the 2020/21 season and currently sit in the play-offs.

Since taking over in late 2019, Dave Challinor has revitalised the Pools, seeing them climb the table into real promotion contenders.

However, on Saturday the hosts will be without midfielder Nicky Featherstone who will be injured for the National League clash.

Last time out, the Pools suffered defeat at the hands of Eastleigh with Joe Grey pulling back a consolation goal for a 2-1 defeat at the Silverlake Stadium.
