Aston Villa 4  Yeovil Town 1

Despite a promising performance, Yeovil Town Ladies lost out 4 – 1 to Aston Villa which unfortunately didn’t reflect the type of game played between the two sides.

Although Villa scored an early goal, Yeovil pressed well and fought hard to regain possession of the ball. This pressure paid off when Amy Wathan equalised in the 16th minute after a great cross from Polly Wardle. The Glovers had the chance to take the lead when Jodi Cornwall was awarded a penalty after being brought down in the box, only to be denied by a brilliant save from the Villa keeper.

With some good build up play, Yeovil were able to create other chances, none of which could be converted. A lapse in concentration enable Villa to score their second and take the lead on the stroke of half time.

Unfortunately, Villa dominated the second half and Yeovil were unable to replicate their first half performance, this allowed Villa to score 2 more goals through good build up play and passing.

Manager Andy Dickinson said "Although we lost today, there were positives to take from the game, especially our first half performance. We will continue to push on and develop to ensure we can improve and perform throughout the whole game."

Next week the Reserves are back to League action with a trip to Chelsea – 2pm ko at Cobham.

Team: Evans, Keehan, Jackson, Wakely,Guy-Kemp (Boston), Wardle, Cossens, Beck (O’Rourke), Guard (Slade), Wathan, Cornwall.
