Hot on the heels of signing Katie Sherwood, Yeovil Town Ladies FC have snapped up Helen Bleazard to further boost their midfield as they head towards their debut season in the expanded FA WSL.
Although Bleazard, like Sherwood is a Welsh International and joins Yeovil from FA WSL side Chelsea, today’s move is a return home for Helen who has always lived in Yeovil and came up through the youth team ranks before moving on several years ago to build her playing career. Bleazard, who has 13 Welsh caps, has previously played for clubs like Chelsea and Bristol Academy in the FA WSL.
Yeovil Town Ladies FC Manager Sarah Lawler said “I have known Helen for years in a coaching and playing capacity, so I know she is a talented player who will add depth to the great squad we have built at the club.
Helen has experience of playing at Bristol and Chelsea in the last few seasons so she will be fully aware of the commitment and dedication needed. Over the last few off seasons she has trained and played with us so she knows the quality we have here and there’s never been a more exciting time at the club. We welcome her back to her home town club!"
Helen Bleazard was delighted by the move and said “I am really pleased to sign for my home town club where it all began for me. The club is moving in a direction that is very positive and I want to be part of the future of this club locally. I’ve been involved in the club since the age of 8 and feel this is the right place for me to develop as a player and help the team start the new WSL season.”
Commenting Club Chairman David Mills said “How much more fitting could it be than to see the best female player the town of Yeovil has ever produced playing for us in our debut FA WSL season. Helen is an example to our Youth team players that they can aspire to play at the highest level”.
