The Glovers reached the quarter-finals last season, and will progress to the second round of the competition this term with a positive result against Plymouth Argyle at Huish Park this evening (7.45pm).

Ivorian forward Zoko, who notched his seventh goal of the campaign at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, won the tournament as a Carlisle United player in 2011 and believes any opportunity to secure silverware isn’t to be sniffed at.

He said: “It’s not considered glamorous but at the end of the day, the final is at Wembley and you get a medal if you win it.

“A lot of players play hundreds of games and don’t win anything, then other players win the Checkatrade Trophy and have a medal at the end of their career.

“I have already won it with Carlisle so I have the experience of playing at Wembley and winning it. It was an unbelievable atmosphere in front of 40,000 people and it was just something special.

“The closer you get to the final, the bigger the competition gets. It’s a competition we’re in; we can win it and want to win it so we’ll play seriously.”

Zoko has scored in both matches he has played in since returning from suspension.

The 34-year-old received a three-match ban after seeing red back in October and he revealed it was a difficult period for him.

“I think it was one of the hardest moments in my career,” Zoko said.

“I’ve been suspended but only for single games. This was Saturday to Saturday so it was long, hard and I hated it. I don’t want to be in that position again!”
