4th September 2020

Darren Sarll’s Yeovil Town side will travel to Frome for their second pre-season friendly of the 2020/21 season.

The evening kick-off is another chance for Glovers players to gain fitness as preparations continue for our second season in the National League.

It’s a short trip for the Green and Whites as Frome Town are the opponents, part of Sarll’s localised pre-season plans.

Darren Sarll’s pre-match thoughts

For Sarll, pre-season is not about results, rather building towards the first competitive fixture for the season.

Speaking in his weekly presser, the Gaffer said; “You can win loads, or you can win none, it never gives an insight in to what we’re going to do.

“I’ve had pre-season’s where I’ve won every game, I remember one year at Stevenage we beat Brighton, who had (Shane) Duffy, (Lewis) Dunk, (Glenn) Murray and (Anthony) Knockaert and then didn’t win a game until the end of August.

“The success of pre-season is not in the score, it’s in fitness and the capability to hit the first game.”

Squad news

There’s a chance we could see a return for both Charlie Lee and Albi Skendi after they missed out against Stratford Town last weekend due to injury.

Sarll will once again try to avoid any injuries which he describes as “the biggest success of pre-season.”

Last time we met

We last met Frome in a pre-season friendly in July 2017. Goals from defender Nathan Smith and a late Rhys Browne strike were enough as Yeovil were the 1-2 victors on the night.
