Summer signing Tom Bradbury has enjoyed his start to life in Yeovil, despite there being stern competition within the defensive ranks.
After signing a one-year deal at Huish Park in July, Bradbury has like many, enjoyed a versatile role playing at both centre back and left back in his short time in Somerset.
Speaking on his time and the competition within the squad, the former Dundee F.C. man said:
“I’m on around 20 games now, I’m really enjoying it (playing), there’s big competition for places now. Moving forward I’m going to have to train well and earn a run in the team. If that doesn’t come, I’ll keep training hard and bide my time.
“There’s a lot of competition for the centre back spots, if you’re in a title winning team, then you’ve got to have competition, so everyone tries harder and trains harder.
“Ultimately it can only be better for the team and increase the standard of our play, I don’t ever want to feel relaxed and feel like I have a spot in the team, you’ve got to earn it.
“At this level, we need to make sure we go places and do certain things this year. Having good depth in numbers to combat the few injuries we’ve had recently, but when we’re all fit, it’s all about who is training well, and playing well. Then it’s for the rest of us to support the rest of the lads who are playing.”
As the Glovers went through a mass overhaul in the Summer, Bradbury was one of the first players to come in after impressing manager Darren Sarll whilst on trial with the club.
Now having six months to settle, the defender also spoke on his start to life in Somerset:
“I’ve loved it so far, they’re a great bunch of lads (the players). I feel lucky to wake up every day with my job as a footballer.
“Yeovil isn’t the biggest, but I’ve found stuff to do on my downtime; I like to go to the cinema or use the bowling alleys so I’m enjoying my time here so far.
“I’m living with (Lee) Collins, Albi (Skendi) and Lawson, but on the odd days off I travel home. We all get on well, we usually settle down and watch a film in the evenings and let the time pass.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s too tidy right now, I keep my room clean, but we’ve got a little running joke that I don’t leave my room because the rest of the house isn’t great, but in all seriousness, we do our best!”
