For the first time in just under 22 years, Yeovil Town play Weymouth in front of supporters at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon.

When the two sides met in FA Trophy action in November 1999, Yeovil Town midfielder Dale Gorman would’ve been just three-years-old, however the Northern Irish midfielder insists he and his teammates understand the importance of Saturday’s cup tie.

“It’s a big derby. I’m aware we haven’t played Weymouth in front of fans for a long time.

“The FA Cup is a chance as a footballer to create a bit of history. Who know’s what can happen, we might have a nice run in the FA Cup! It gives us something to look forward to.

“A Cup is a Cup, but Saturday is a big one and we’ll be hoping to get into the next round.”

Occasions as a player don’t come much bigger than a derby in the FA Cup, Gorman and his teammates will be looking to rise to the occasion on Saturday afternoon.

“As a player, no matter what you know about the derby, it’s important that you present yourself well for it.

“Weymouth will come here Saturday looking to win, it doesn’t matter what sort of form they’re in.

“We’ll be at it, and so will they. There’s nobody down in our changing room that isn’t looking forward to Saturday.”

“The fans are important for us on Saturday, we’ll be looking to them to get right behind us. Hopefully we can put on a show for them on Saturday and get one over on Weymouth.”
