Town manager Darren Way was delighted that his players kept the winning streak going as a 1-0 win over Notts County pushed the club further away from the League Two drop zone.

Francois Zoko’s header five minutes after half time was enough for victory over the Magpies, and means that Yeovil have won 1-0 four times in a row.

But despite their good form, Way admitted that he told his players to be cautious of their opposition who were relegated alongside Town last season.

“I’m really pleased as we went into that game as an underdog; that was a difficult game,” said Way.

“Even though they’ve had a couple of bad results, they’ve got a wealth of experience, a big squad and it’s a big club.

“It’s a real proud moment as a manager that they continued the run against good opposition and we continued winning. That’s been the main thing since I took over as manager, you have to win football matches and we’ve got a good way of showing that at the moment.”

Way applauded the visiting keeper Scott Loach, as the former England Under-21 stopper pulled off several eye-catching saves to keep the difference to one goal despite heavy pressure from Town.

“I thought their keeper was fantastic,” the Glovers manager explained.

“It could’ve been a big score, I want the players to get that score, but unfortunately it didn’t happen today. But fair play to their keeper, he saved a lot of chances.”

Despite a good all-round team performance from Yeovil, the Town boss reserved special praise for young midfielder Liam Walsh.

The youngster, on loan from Everton, was named sponsors’ Man of the Match yet again after another impressive display in the middle of the park.

“I don’t know how many man of the match awards he’s got,” said Way, “but you can see Walshy’s technique.”

“There’s times where you watch him in training and you smile, he’s that sort of player.”

Yeovil made it five clean sheets in a row with another shutout, and the Town manager is keen for his players to keep the victories coming.

The Town boss finished, “We were underdogs today, we had to catch Notts County and it’s important we keep doing that, I don’t want to look behind us.

“I said to the players I’d trust my kids with them at the moment, our defensive record at the moment is that strong!

“I want us to be in charge, I want the players to keep driving us forward and keep this fantastic run going. It’s another clean sheet!”
