Yeovil Town’s pre-season campaign continues with a clash against Forest Green Rovers (3pm).

In what is the first pre-season friendly at Huish Park, Darren Sarll’s side will be hoping to continue their winning start to pre-season against Football League opposition.

The visitors, after falling in the League Two play-offs, are vying for promotion to League One once again, and play their final pre-season friendly on Saturday, a week before their season begins against newly promoted Sutton United.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking after last Saturday’s victory over Stratford Town, Darren Sarll said; ““We need to get the flow right between (Dale) Gorman and (Josh) Staunton but Gorman, I like it when he takes responsibility and even in those moments where you think we may lose control of the mental and physical dominance of it, I just think that Gorman almost brings power back into your ranks, so I thought he was very influential at that.

“(Charlie) Wakefield again I thought was good, he’s had a good couple of weeks, and we need to build him, he had a long period of his young career out with injury, but I thought he showed some really good physical attributes, putting in a brilliant cross for Joe (Quigley).

“Lewis Simper’s got good quality, you can see the way he feels the ball and shapes the ball and spins it off the sides of his feet, I thought he was good.”

A foot in the opposition camp

It’s been a summer of change at the New Lawn, with head coach Rob Edwards taking the helm following Mark Cooper’s departure.

The change has brought about opportunities for the likes of Matty Stevens, who has impressed in recent friendlies, scoring four times, most recently against Swansea City.

Previous meetings

Saturday’s fixture is the first time the Glovers have met Forest Green outside the EFL since 2003.

Yeovil Town were the victors that day, winning 1-0 with Kirk Jackson netting the game’s solitary goal.

Kit news

Yeovil Town will be wearing the brand-new Hummel shirt, launched on Wednesday evening.

Fans will be able to pre-order the shirt in the coming days.
