The Glovers welcome Sky Bet League One outfit Southend United to Huish Park, a side who have been knocked out of the competition at the opening stage the past three campaigns.

Ex-Barnsley winger Khan made his debut in the tournament last season, netting an excellent free kick against Solihull Moors, and is relishing a potential cup run with the Green and Whites.

“It’s exciting times for every footballer up and down the country,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“It’s a great competition to play in and you can end up playing a really good team.

“A cup run would mean everything to the club, the players and myself. It’s a chance put to Yeovil on the map.

“Anything can happen as an underdog. Anybody can beat anyone on their day.

“We’re really confident going into the game. All the boys have had a good week and we’re really looking forward to it.”

In their previous Somerset outing, Khan assisted twice as Yeovil ran out 3-0 winners over Stevenage.

Manager Darren Way praised the supporters after the game and Khan says they can prove influential once again this weekend.

He said: “The crowd can play a massive part in any game you play.

“When they’re getting behind the team it’s like a 12th man on the pitch.

“With them behind us we’ll be at it. Huish Park is where we feel most confident and we’ll take anyone on here.”
