12th April 2019

Macclesfield’s 3-2 win over Exeter City in midweek saw the green and whites fall into the drop zone for the first time in 2018/19, adding to the importance of this weekend’s clash with Crawley.

With the remaining fixtures this season described as ‘cup finals’ by Interim Manager Neale Marmon and his players, Town will be looking to build on their encouraging 1-1 draw at Swindon last time out.

Adel Gafaiti’s last-minute header rescued a point for the Somerset outfit and halted a run of five straight defeats.

Now aiming for maximum points against the Reds, Marmon’s side will then hope results elsewhere see them make a swift exit from the relegation zone.

If the Glovers are to do so they’ll be without Rhys Browne (hamstring) and Omar Sowunmi (ankle), with Sessi D’Almeida likely to shake off a groin injury sustained a week ago to feature in some part.

Elsewhere, Alex Pattison has been back in training to potentially end his three-match absence with a return to the matchday squad.

Whoever makes the starting eleven will be up against a Crawley side who’ve suffered four straight defeats.

Gabriele Cioffi’s side have slipped towards the bottom of the table and have collected just six points from their last 10 outings.

Head-to-head
Despite their disappointing form, the Reds will head south looking for a fifth straight win over the green and whites.

Looking to level the scores to six wins each from 13 encounters, the Glovers will meanwhile look to get back to the form displayed in their last win over the West Sussex outfit.

Hosting Crawley in December 2016, goals from Otis Khan (x2), Tom Eaves, Ryan Hedges and Francois Zoko secured an emphatic 5-0 win in League Two.

Officials
Ben Toner will be the man in the middle on Saturday.

It’ll be his second match of the campaign involving the Glovers after overseeing the 3-0 defeat to Forest Green Rovers in February.

He’ll be assisted by Christopher Kidd and Simon Shaw with Sam Allison acting as fourth official.
