Having already secured the temporary services of Barnsley’s Jared Bird on Thursday, the Glovers boss added Liverpool Under-23s captain Corey Whelan, Middlesbrough attacking midfielder Lewis Wing and exciting Southampton forward Marcus Barnes to his ranks ahead of the Bantams’ visit to Huish Park.

Whelan is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international defender who is equally capable of playing at right-back or centre-half, while Wing caught Boro’s attention by netting just shy of 60 goals in two seasons for Northern League Division One side Shildon.

Barnes also has an eye for goal and has scored four goals in Premier League 2 for Southampton this term.

The three youngsters, alongside the addition of Bird, bolster Way’s options and the Yeovil manager declared his delight to have them on board.

“I’m really pleased with all three loan signings,” he told YTFC.net.

“They all have real quality and will improve our squad for the second half of the season.

“Corey is a leader and Liverpool Under-23s’ captain. He also plays international football for Republic of Ireland and can play in a couple of positions.

“Lewis is a great goalscorer. He’s played first team football for Middlesbrough this season and is highly thought of there.

“Marcus is another goalscorer who is good with the ball at his feet and likes to bring others into play.

“I’d like to thank Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Southampton for trusting YTFC to continue their development. I’m excited to work with them.

“I’d also like to thank the respective managers, agents and staff at each club for their help in securing these deals. I extend that to my own staff who have worked tirelessly to get everything over the line.”
