22nd September 2017

That season Yeovil drew all of their opening four matches at Huish Park.

A win on Saturday would extend the Glovers’ unbeaten sequence to five and Darren Way’s attacking options are boosted by the return of Olufela Olomola.

The Southampton hotshot has missed the last two games due to injury but will be keen to wrestle his place back from Bournemouth loanee Sam Surridge who netted the first league goal of his career against Morecambe.

Francois Zoko is Town’s top scorer so far this season with five goals, and has linked up well with whichever youngster has been selected.

Port Vale offer a different threat to what Way’s side have faced already in Somerset this term.

The Valiants sit bottom of the table after a seven-match winless run, which led to the sacking of Michael Brown.

David Kelly and Chris Morgan, Brown’s assistants, have stepped up to take temporary charge and will be looking to stake a claim for the job on a permanent basis.

Tom Pope, an experienced frontman with plenty of career goals, is yet to score since his return to Vale Park but his young strike partner Dan Turner has netted three times.

Ben Whitfield will return to Yeovil for the first time after he spent the year with the club last season.

Head-to-head
All three of Yeovil’s wins over Port Vale in the EFL have been 1-0 – the last of which came back in 2007.

Since then, Town have suffered two defeats to the Valiants, picking up a draw at Vale Park.

The teams last met two years ago with recently sacked boss Michael Brown scoring at late winner in a 2-1 Vale win at Huish Park.

Officials
Graham Salisbury will be the man in the middle this weekend.

The Lancashire-born official has refereed 10 games this season, dishing out 43 yellow cards – including 18 in his first two fixtures – and two reds.

He officiated Town once last year – the Glovers’ 4-2 home win over Cheltenham Town. He booked three Yeovil players on that occasion.

He will be assisted by Dean Treleaven (West Sussex) and Simon Shaw (Gloucestershire) with Mark Pottage (Dorset) acting as fourth official.
