After back to back draws, Yeovil Town now face a stern test in Wrexham as the Red Dragons visit Huish Park this Saturday (3pm).

We last met in our final home fixture pre-lockdown, Darren Sarll will be hoping for more of the same as the Glovers were the 3-0 victors that afternoon, thanks to goals from Courtney Duffus, Luke Wilkinson and Albi Skendi.

Wrexham have had a mixed start to the campaign, with a win over Boreham Wood and a defeat to Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

The gaffer made his praise of Wrexham no secret in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, speaking via Zoom he said:

“Last year, I remember in my pre-match press conferences before the games last year I said Wrexham were one of the games where you’re playing against a real, proper football club.

“It was one of the games last year that coming into the league for the first time in my career that I was very much looking forward too, and I think the same again.

“They’re a good side and a good club, it will be a very tough game. They’ve played well in their first two games, and we know if our current performance levels are to be replicated, we’ll probably get beat.

Injury news

Darren Sarll described his players as “tight and tired” after Tuesday night’s draw with Wealdstone.

Skendi, who has sat out of Yeovil’s opening fixtures remains a doubt, with Dan Leadbitter, Matt Worthington, Courtney Duffus and Lawson D’Ath all sustaining minor concerns which could see them miss Saturday’s game.

New faces

This week, Yeovil added a new face to the forward ranks, signing Matt Warburton on loan from Northampton Town for the upcoming season.

The forward has previous in non-league, playing for Curzon Ashton, Stockport County and Salford City in the National League North.

A foot in the opposition camp

After making international headlines following news of potential investment from ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ creator Rob McElhenney, the Red Dragons have had a mixed start to the 2020/21 season. After a 2-1 victory over Boreham Wood at the Racecourse Ground, the Welsh side travelled southbound to Solihull Moors and fell to a 1-0 defeat.

The man to look out for in dead ball situations is Luke Young. The former Torquay United & Plymouth Argyle man has struck eight goals in a Wrexham shirt, most recently a sublime free kick in their opening clash with Luke Garrard’s Boreham Wood.

After taking charge for his second stint at the club in 2019, Dean Keates has turned Wrexham around. After struggling near the bottom in 19/20, Keates has lifted expectations with strong recruitment in pre-season.
