14th December 2018

Rhys Browne’s opener at home to Forest Green Rovers last weekend wasn’t enough to secure victory as Town now turn their attention to a trip on the road.

The Glovers sit two places and two points above United but will look to extend that gap following the visit to the Abbey Stadium.

Darren Way welcomed back Olufela Olomola from injury last time out and could be boosted further by the return to fitness of top scorer Alex Fisher who’s resumed training.

If the seven-goal striker does feature in the matchday 18 it’ll reduce the injury list to Bevis Mugabi (shoulder), Omar Sowunmi (ankle), Nathan Baxter (hip), Diallang Jaiyesimi (knee), James Bailey (knee) and Alex Pattison (back).

Newest recruit Adel Gafaiti made his home debut last Saturday having recovered from a dead leg and is likely to continue alongside Gary Warren in Cambridgeshire.

In all, Town’s boss made six changes for the clash with Rovers but could be tempted to make alterations once again in a bid to pick up all three points.

It will also mark the first match without assistant manager, Terry Skiverton, who relinquished his role on Thursday.

Head-to-head
Saturday will be the 12th competitive meeting between the two sides with the Glovers boasting six wins to Cambridge’s four.

Losing their last three trips to the Abbey Stadium, Town will look for a repeat of their only previous December visit which came in 2004.

Battling back from 2-0 down, goals from Phil Jevons (x2), Darren Way, Lee Johnson and Andrejs Stolcers secured an emphatic 5-3 win.

Officials
Peter Wright will take charge of his third game of the season involving Yeovil.

Overseeing the 6-0 win at Newport County and the 2-1 loss at Morecambe, he’ll be the man in the middle once again on Saturday.

Mr Wright will be assisted by Christopher Kidd and Garry Maskell with Stuart Butler acting as fourth official.
