Following the recent news of the club recruiting a girl band for marketing purposes, we thought supporters would be interested in how the project came about.

The Famous Company is a professional artist development company, who have aided many artists to achieve their dreams of performing on stages across Europe. They approached Yeovil Town, and offered them a trial of a product they have been working to develop, based on the concept of using an artist, or group to promote and market corporate brands.
Yeovil Town accepted this offer at no financial cost whatsoever to the club leaving The Famous Company liable for all expenses for the project. Neither Yeovil Town nor The Famous Company are under any disbelief that the project will improve the players performances on the pitch.
The project is aimed to expand the range of supporters who attend matches, ideally attracting a substantial amount of women and children who currently appreciate the game from afar, therefore increasing revenue for the club.

This is not to say that the football matches alone are not exciting enough, but merely that offering another entertainment element to the games may encourage a different generation of supporter.
The most positive outcome of this project is to raise money for the Football League’s official charity Prostate Cancer UK. The end result of creating a Yeovil Town girlband is to release a single on iTunes. All proceeds from the release will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK, and both the Football League and the official charity have already shown their support in the project.
One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lives (Prostate Cancer UK statistic) – this means that approximately three or four players in a current team alone could be affected.

During the 2013/2014 season so far, an average of 7,411 supporters have attended matches at Huish Park. Using the statistics provided by Prostate Cancer UK, this means that 926 men attending these games could experience the horrific disease.
Supporters are encouraged to back Yeovil Town’s campaign, and help them raise not only the profile of the club, but also a significant amount of money for this well deserved charity.
Auditions for females aged 18+ are taking place at Huish Park Stadium in Yeovil on Wednesday 4th December at 7pm.
